What is it?
It's an app which offers a guided prayer/devotional three times a day. Each morning prayer takes a different piece of Scripture as a starting point and takes you through a few possible prayerful responses before returning to the passage. If you're used to a traditional lectio divina practice, you will find this version is more directed, but there's still plenty of room for your own thoughts and reflections. The noontide and evening prayers are shorter and less detailed, but also have some variation from day to day.
Piety, study, or action?
Piety - but I often learn something I didn't know before, so there's the occasional bit of study in there too!
Where did you find it?
I downloaded it from the Play Store. (It's also available in the Apple store and https://lectio365.com/.) I knew several Cursillistas had recommended it, including our previous spiritual director Olivia.
Why was it useful for you?
It's incredibly convenient and removes all the barriers - I don't have to find a Bible, I don't have to look up what passage I'm meant to be reading today, I just open the app and there it all is in front of me. It uses an engaging assortment of Biblical translations; the reflections are almost always helpful; the prayer prompts work even if I can't immediately think of a situation to which I can apply them!
I'm not much of a one for audio, but for those who do find it useful you can hear it spoken as well.
I also find the night prayer a lovely variation on traditional Compline.
