Let Go and Let God: Lay Director's report

Hilly landscape on a misty day, sun breaking through clouds, white path leading towards the hill

The decision to take on the Lay Directorship was a last minute one and very much God’s work. I have come to the role without having served in any capacity except for my experiences on Ely35 as a Pilgrim. Thank goodness for all the support of Dawn and Stephen and more recently the blessing of the Bowrings (again!). And my thanks too to fellow members of Secretariat for their support and input, and to all of Ely Cursillo for your patience and generosity.

A baptism of fire, is how it feels and I do sometimes wonder why God has given me this job on top of everything else I try to do. Sometimes you just have to ‘let go, let God’.

I am still to attend the BACC run Cursillo Leaders’ Workshop in September 2021 to ensure I am more informed and up-to-date. The latest BACC Manual is easily accessible from the BACC website (www.anglicancursillo.co.uk)

I have been very pleased with the past year’s events especially as we are still in the midst of the Covid Pandemic. Having only taken up the post in September 2020 I actually have little to report other than the Refugios which has most definitely been our little light in the Covid darkness.

I hope that the CLW training event in later in 2021 will give me some of the skills needed to make a decent job of being LD, and I would ask for your prayers in my endeavours.

Now we can look forward to building on what has been started, to helping Cursillo be more ‘organised’, and to share Christian and Cursillo journeys with you all.

ULTREYA!
